MAKING THE DIME MINE

Prior to me owning this Datsun 510, also known as 'a dime'. I was a 510 owner some years ago. My first 510 was a 72', mikuni carb'd, restored, the whole 9 yards, but I was young n' dumb and sold it. Ever since I sold it, I've wanted another so in 2015 my girlfriend and I set out to Yreka, CA to pickup an all original 70' 510 that was only missing a fuel tank. I sat on that shell for 2 years until I found this 69' that was in way better shape with minimal rust. I found this locally in Oakland, CA.

After getting it home it was time to take what I needed from my 70' to make this 69' complete. It just needed little odds n' ends from the interior and exterior. The major thing I wanted to swap though was the dashboard, because I despise the elongated speedometer in the 69'. I invited Greg and Danny over to help with this task. I suppose I could've waited for a cooler day being that it was pushing 100 degrees that day. Shouts to Danny for the EZ Ups.

After conquering the dash swap, I wanted to take advantage of the help and get the old L series swap pulled so I could get it sold.

I ended up trading this L series for a KA24DE long block that would be the new engine to replace this tired and carbureted paper weight. Since the engine was pulled I've been collecting the KA swap parts and front suspension. Product features coming soon...
