NEW BALANCE 998NB1: RED OCTOBER

Sometimes the Cali weather calls for bright shoes, so what’s a better way to acknowledge nature and step out in something fresh that is sure to catch eyes. This is my ‘Red October’ 998 made on New Balance’s NB1 platform.

If you’re familiar with the NB1 platform then you know it usually takes a while for them to update the color wheel; I was waiting anxiously by my computer when this wheel was updated. Once I saw the red plastic option for the mid-tab and speedlace, I already knew the next custom to hit my collection would be an all red 998.

Believe it or not…these were actually supposed to have more 3M on them, but when I brought it to the attention of NB, they said it was too hard to see on my order form so they made everything suede with the exception of the base layer ‘N’. I actually like it better this way. The red suede is smooth!

The only thing that could make these better in my opinion would’ve been a red liner. Red leather would’ve set them off even more! Nonetheless I’m very happy with the finished product and always receive compliments in person and on the socials for this pair.
