NEW BALANCE 990BTA2 'HORWEEN'

New Balance and suede goes together like peanut butter and jelly, but what if we replaced all of that silky suede for luxurious leather? Now…what if we didn’t settle for just any leather, but the highest quality Horween leather found in Chicago, IL? If we did all of that; then it would probably look something like this 990BTA2 ;)

It is a pleasure to see that the Horween Leather x NB projects usually sell out. I currently have 5 pairs of Horween covered NB’s (997, 990v2, 991, and 2 pairs of 990v4). Up until the 990v4, the Horween leather pairs came with a black/silver NB box with a very nice dust bag. It was disappointing to see that they didn’t continue the pattern on the v4.

The color combination on these BTA2’s is classy at best! Deep oxblood red throughout the upper accented with crimson piping makes the metallic ‘N’ pop! It doesn’t stop there though, the detailed pebbled leather resembling snake scales can be found on the tongue top and then wraps down to the speed lace. Lastly, they’re topped off with the signature choice of waxed laces.

There may be many boutiques out there that formulate crazy WW collaboration projects, but in my opinion it’s hard for them to compete with pairs like these being issued as a general release. I hope NB bring pairs like these back into everyone’s rotation!
