After collectively sitting down as a group and blueprinting what Matt wanted and needed in a truck; there was only one viable option when it came time for motor choice and that was Ford Performance Parts’ new 7.3 Godzilla V8. Ford Performance now offers this as a crate engine and can be purchased here. The factory specs are as follows:
Bore 107.2 mm x stroke 101.0 mm
Cast iron block
Aluminum cylinder heads
Intake valve diameter 55.13 mm
Exhaust valve diameter 42.53 mm
Lift (intake/exhaust) 13.67 mm / 15.26 mm
Cam-in-block OHV design w/variable cam timing
Forged steel crankshaft
Cast Aluminum pistons
430 HP at 5,500 rpm
475 lb/ft of torque at 4,000 rpm
10.5:1 compression
Port fuel injection
After unanimously agreeing on the motor choice there was one more hurdle; how do we get it? A proposal was formulated and sent to Ford Performance and by our surprise was accepted! The acceptance of our proposal was contingent that the truck would be at SEMA 2021, so with SEMA less than a year away we requested the engine to arrive as soon as possible for mock-up fabrication to begin. Merely 2 weeks after giving the shipping address and just 1 week before Christmas…it arrived to the shop at Sonoma Raceway where builders Crick Filippi and Trent Musser would accept it.
We are proud to formally announce that we are now in partnership with Ford Performance Parts, and are grateful for the opportunity to represent a great American company.
