1951 FORD F1 - 'BAD IDEA'

Trent Musser and Crick Filippi might be familiar names to you after following some of my build threads; not only are they two of my best friends, but they are also two of the best vehicle builders in the area. With that said, it’s been a privilege to watch them grow in their occupation over the past decade. Trent and Crick both started in the garages of their own homes, and now share shop-space at the world renown racetrack; Sonoma Raceway aka Sears Point.

I try and make it a point to visit the shop twice a month just to pop-in and see what the latest projects are on the lifts or outside waiting for their turn. Yesterday wasn’t my first time seeing this 1951 Ford F100 truck, but I had my camera with me since I was shooting shoes earlier that day so I thought, “why not…let’s shoot this thing”.

The owner of this truck is a Bay Area sports legend that has achieved the unachievable by todays rules, which I’m sure will be similar to how this truck is built; legendary and never to be duplicated. This patina’d classic American truck is rumored to get a custom chassis built Crick and house a nasty twin-turbo v8 under the hood. What’s more American than that?

By the looks of this truck it seems to have been someone else’s previous project as the bed has been stripped, suspension has been upgraded and modified, and there is an EFI style fuel tank. Other than that the truck is fairly solid and is a perfect platform for Trent and Crick to work their magic on.

I’m always interested to see projects of Crick and Trent’s, but rarely do I get the time or opportunity to document them from beginning to end. I will do my best to keep this going for all of you to follow. All bases will be covered on this truck as it is sure to bring in a Grand Slam when it’s finished.
