When pictures surfaced of these a couple weeks ago on SneakerFreaker the first thing that came to mind was a donor midsole for my 990/991 hybrids, but there was something else that sparked my interest…the distinctly similar colorway to one of those hybrids: 990DKGN.
I reached out to a familiar wealth of knowledge to most in the OG NB community (S. Pearce) who informed me that the DKGN was in-fact the inspiration behind this shoe, but with a modernized color change. At quick glance you can see similarities such as the inlay on the N is the same color as the upper (like the original), the only 3M used is on the toebox (like the original), identical midsole to the original and even same lace color as the original.
I applaud ALL involved with resurrecting this classic with a modern twist!
