NEW BALANCE x JCREW 998JL2: PHOENIX RED

JCrew and NB have been partners for some years now, and in my opinion have some of the most successful collaboration projects that really push creativity levels. Though they utilize more than just 99X series, I find myself gravitating towards their 998’s and 997’s the most. This was the last JCrew project I added to my collection after finding them on eBay for a steal! Say hello to the ‘Phoenix Red’ 998!

So what is a phoenix? A phoenix is (in classical mythology) a unique bird that lived for five or six centuries in the Arabian desert, after this time burning itself on a funeral pyre and rising from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle.

This is a surprisingly fitting name for these vibrant 998’s as they have eluded me for some years much like the mythical bird…I began to question if I’d ever find them.

JCrew’s impact in mens fashion across the board doesn’t seem to be slowing down, so with that said…I look forward to seeing what they continue to do with NB as a partner.
